Avril Lavigne is one of our favourite singers.She is a rock singer,songwriter,model and occasinal actress.Her first two albuns, Let Go (2002) and Under my Skin (2004),have topped charts in several countries. Her third album The Best Damn Thing (2007) is to be released on April 17,2007.
Her real name is Avril Ramona Lavigne-Whibley. Her first name, Avril, is French for April.
Avril was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, to a French-born father, John and a Franco-Ontarian mother, Judy.At the age of five she moved with her family to Napanee, Ontario, where she sang in a church choir and taught herself to play the guitar.
In 1998, Avril worn a competition to sing with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain.
On July 15, 2006, Avril married Deryck Whibley, the singer of Canadian pop-punk group Sum 4.
In 2002, A. L. was named "Best New Artist" at the MTV Video Music Awards and was nominated for 8 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for "Complicated" and Best New Artist.
She won two World Music Awards in 2004 for World´s Best Pop/Rock Artist.
Lavigne represented Canada at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. She performed her song "Who Knows". She also was the voice of Heather the possum in Dreamworks motion picture "Over the Hedge".
Avril wrote and recorded a new song titled "Keep Holding On" with Dr. Luke to be part of the Eragon movie soundtrack. The song was released for digital download on November 28.
When she was a teenager she used to go to La Pizzeria restaurant in Napanee, Ontario. She once said that pizza with olive toppings is her favourite foood, although she doesn´t eat too much because pizza is not good for her voice. The restaurant has named a pizza after Avril, that contains her favourite toppings.
